Ten Bands One Cause 2020
Ten Bands re-issue their albums on limited edition pink vinyl, all for one cause. This is the 7th year for the initiative that has raised over $250,000 for Gilda’s Club NYC, an organization that provides community support for both those diagnosed with cancer and their caretakers. It is named after comedian Gilda Radner, who passed away from cancer at the age of 43 in 1989.
This year’s set is a modified “special edition” with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic featuring 4 (not 10) fantastic titles by much-loved artists, including, Fitz and the Tantrums' Pickin’ Up The Pieces 10th Anniversary (Dangerbird), Brian Fallon's Local Honey (Lesser Known Records), Twin Peaks’ Side A (Grand Jury), and Chiodos’ All’s Well That Ends Well 15th Anniversary (Equal Vision), each to be released on 12” pink vinyl packages.
The lead singer of beloved heartland-punk band The Gaslight Anthem, Brian Fallon steps away from that sound and into a stripped-down Americana space on his third solo album, Local Honey. Produced by Grammy-award winning producer Peter Katis (The National, Frightened Rabbit, Death Cab for Cutie), the album showcases Fallon's songwriting in small vignettes, from a loving devotional for his daughter to a vengeful murder ballad.
Since their formation, Chiodos have been focuses on creating something different while letting their diverse influences shine through. Their resulting debut full length is only definable as a melting pot of electronic beats behind piano, metal guitar riffs and poppy melodic vocal lines that leave you humming. Heavy and harsh at one moment beautiful and serene the next, seemingly as a rul staying away from "verse-chorus-verse" song writing. Influenced by Saves the Day, Queen and at the Drive In, Chidos create a sound both intense and versatile as they cross musical boundaries.
Features contributions from other Chicago artists such as Ohmme, Lala Lala, V.V. Lightbody and more. - First truly new material since the release of last year’s Lookout Low. - Part of a two EP series called Side A/Side B, which will be compiled together upon the release of EP2 later this year.
